Not short term or not project based, long term initiative have to take to face disaster and climate change in Bangladesh. Executive Director of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies and prominent climate change specialist Dr A Atiq Rahman said this on Tuesday at a view-exchange meeting in the city.
Development organization Friendship arranged this meeting where he also said, the country faces many disaster like cyclone, river erosion, drought, flood, etc, round the year. And these are increasing by climate change issues.
Thus Climate Change and Disaster Management becomes an important issue in Bangladesh now. PKSF Director Dr Fazle Rabbi Ahmed, Strategic Planning Director and Head of Climate Change Adaptation & Disaster Management of Friendship Kazi Emdadul Haq also had some presentation about disaster management and climate change in Bangladesh.
The specialists informed, marginal community facing more disaster and trying to adopt themselves. So, if some initiatives may taken for them, we can save resources and live. Thus Bangladesh can be a role model in climate change and disaster management.
