Staff Reporter :The transport owners have agreed not to ply long-route passenger buses on the highways after 9pm everyday fearing arson attacks across the country.If enough security measures are provided at the vulnerable points of the highways, they will again operate their transports on the schedule time, said transport owners in a meeting held in the conference room of the Ministry on Monday.State Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, “We do not want to see any bus on the road after 9:00pm. We requested the owners, and they have agreed with our proposal.””We shall be able to ensure adequate security measure on the highway within a very short time and we have already given instruction to the law enforcers to guarantee it”, Kamal said. Khandaker Enayetullah Khan, leader of transport owner organisation said, “We are trying to reach an agreement so that the public transports could reach their destination before 9pm. We have requested the law enforces team to ensure tight security at risky spots on highways and inside the capital in this regard.”When asked which spots of the highways are vulnerable, Kamal and Enayet jointly said that some spots in the districts of Gaibandha, Rangpur, and Chittagong, are vulnerable. But State Minister claimed that the situation is good enough more than before. Earlier, the Inspector General of police AKM Shahidul Haque on Sunday requested the transport owners not to ply long-route buses at night.
