Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim inaugurated an exclusive kidney dialysis centre at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Sunday evening
Located at the ground floor beside the fair price medicine shop at CMCH, the exclusive kidney dialysis centre was formally inaugurated yesterday though it started providing services to the patients since last Tuesday.
The 31-bed centre, established under Public Private Partnership is equipped with 31 kidney dialysis machines and extending its services to 62 patients in two shifts daily. More patients will get dialysis facilities if the centre is ready for providing 24 hours services.
CMCH sources said with the opening of this centre, the capacity of the kidney dialysis in the hospital would increase by six times at cheaper rate from now on.
Local lawmaker Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, CMCH Director Brigadier General Mohammad Jalal Uddin, CMCH Principal Dr Selim Mohammad Jahangir, Deputy Director of Chittagong Divisional Health Services Dr Alauddin Mazumdar, President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Chittagong chapter, Dr Mujibul Hoque Khan and General Secretary Dr Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury, among others, were present at the occasion.Later, the minister attended the installation ceremony of the newly elected office bearers of BMA, Chittagong chapter at Biruttam Shah Alam Auditorium of CMCH last night.
City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, local lawmaker Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu, Health and Population Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Rokeya Sultana and President of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad, central committee, Dr M Iqbal Arslan, among others, were present at the installation ceremony.
