Police have arrested a UP member named Osman Gani (42) allegedly in connection with the beating of a freedom fighter in Lohagarah’s Charamba Union.
On Saturday evening, the UP member was arrested from his village on charges of being involved in the incident. He is the son of late Abdul Alam of west Para in Bibibila area of the union and a member of ward 4 of the union. Atindra Lal Nath (70) of the slain heroic freedom fighter is the son of late Shyama Charan Nath of Purba Nath Para in the same area.
It is learned that there was a long-running dispute between the two sides over the closure of roads in the area. At the center of the incident, Osman Gani member was furious with freedom fighter Atindra Lal Nath. On Saturday (September 4) morning, when he saw the freedom fighter in a tea shop in the neighborhood, he started cursing.
