Staff Reporter, Rangpur :
Indicating the lockdown to be relaxed before Eid, Awami League General Secretary Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader MP said, “The government is thinking of cooling down the lockdown by thinking of working people, businessmen and homeless people. At the same time, the government is thinking of increasing the lockdown in the next one week.
He said this at a meeting to review the progress of the ongoing development and maintenance work under Rangpur Zone online with the officials of Roads and Highways Department Rangpur Zone at Rangpur Sarak Bhaban around 11:15 am on Monday. Urging to complete the ongoing development work as soon as possible, Obaidul Quader said the damaged roads should be repaired as soon as possible before Eid. He expressed his displeasure over the development and progress of the work of Sasek-1 and Sasek-2. He said that the work of Sasek-1 has become very slow. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked to complete this work long ago. But I do not understand why it is not ending. It needs to be completed as soon as possible. But that work cannot be completed on time. The work that is supposed to start needs to be started, it is not seen that there are as many stars as there are at the time of tender. That is why we are far behind. Minister Obaidul Quader instructed to maintain the quality of the road and said that cautious should be taken not to do low quality work. He warned that contractors and engineers would have to take responsibility if the work was substandard. The Minister directed the Chief Engineer and Additional Chief Engineer of the Bogra-Naogaon-Bogra-Joypurhat Road to take action against the contractor Navana Construction for failing to complete the work even after the stipulated time. Instructing the BRTA offices to be free from harassment, he said that these office brokers should be free. The brokers have a contact with the official staff of the offices. People have to keep on the ferry so that they don’t have to wait day after day.
The bridge minister said the dilapidated condition of BRTC buses was due to lack of supervision. This situation has arisen due to those who are involved in it not fulfilling their responsibilities properly.
How much more will the government subsidize? You have to earn yourself. Otherwise you will not get the salary. We want everything to run smoothly. Additional Chief Engineer of Roads and Highways Department Rangpur Zone Md. Moniruzzaman, Supervising Engineer Rashedul Alam, Executive Engineer Shafiquzzaman were present at the time while Bogra and Joypurhat district executive engineers, officers and employees attended the confernce.
