State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain today said the ongoing lockdown period may be extended for another seven days after May 16.
He gave this information to reporters on Thursday afternoon.
The state minister for public administration said the police would be given “judicial powers” to make wearing masks compulsory.
The State Minister for Public Administration said on Wednesday that there were plans to extend the ongoing lockdown by one more week due to the “identification of Indian variant of coronavirus” in the country.
He added that the Indian variant could put the country at risk. Therefore, the decision to extend the lockdown to avoid infection will be announced on May 16. Besides, we all have to wear masks. ‘Wearing a mask is safe, and not wearing is dangerous” – this word should be kept in mind.
The State Minister said holiday is being given in special circumstances. “We don’t want anyone to leave Dhaka. As a result, the holiday has been shortened so that everyone stays in Dhaka.”
“The office will continue on Wednesday. Private companies have been asked to keep their workers in Dhaka.”
Farhad Hossain further said the Covid-19 will spread deadly if the people are going to home like this (overflowing). “We have arranged the holidays with this goal in mind and have shortened the holidays,” he added.
