Local public representative urged to ensure welfare

Deputy Minister for Water Resources AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem on Saturday called upon the local public representatives to work sincerely as servants of the people for their welfare.
“You (local public representatives) will have to reward of the trust and confidence of people as they elected you all. I ask you all to work as servants by dedicating yourselves to the service of the people,” he said.
He said this while addressing a view exchanging meeting with all newly elected chairmen and members of union parishads of Naria upazila of the district at Amena Raushan Hafezia Madrasah ground in Charbhaga Paikbari of Sakhipur in Shariatpur.
Shameem also urged all of the new public representatives to ensure people’s right to get services including birth registration certificates.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has worked for the people until his death, he said, adding that Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also following her father’s footsteps by taking many development works for the country.
“We have to work to meet the basic needs of the people one by one. The service should be delivered to the doorsteps of the grassroots,” he continued.
District Awami League President Chabedur Rahman Khoka Sikder, General Secretary Anol Kumar Dey, Law Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Member Enayetullah Munshi, Vedarganj Upazila Chairman Alhaj Humayun Kabir Mollah and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Naria Sheikh Rasheduzzaman were also present, among others, on the occasion.
