Business Reporter :
The month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2015 begins in the city’s Agargaon area from Thursday.
But the 2nd day of the fair draws huge visitors, as it was the first week holiday of the fair.
It is learnt that local products are largely dominating the DITF as the customers are showing their interests on locally manufactured products because of low prices and world-class quality.
While visiting different stalls our reporter has seen stalls of local companies are attracting the low- and middle-income buyers. They are crowding at the stalls of Walton, Runner, MyOne, Jamuna, RFL and some other local companies.
The sellers have also expressed satisfaction over increasing trend of public gathering at the very onset of the fair.
Walton officials informed that the company has brought 30 new models of televisions, refrigerators, air-conditions, motorcycles, mobile handsets and other home appliances.
Talking to The Daily New Nation, Emdadul Haque Sarkar, chief of Walton’s marketing department, said, “on the occasion of the fair, Walton has brought two new models (254 litre and 317 litre) of refrigerators and the company is going to release another 11 models very soon.”
Some other essentials like blenders, hair straighter and rice cooker are being sold at attractive prices, he also mentioned.
On the other hand, Walton pavilion is providing a special price reduction up to Tk1, 000 on the occasion of DITF.
It is learnt that about 34 models of home appliances and kitchen appliances are now on display at the Walton pavilion. It is one of the key attractions is that an improved technology has been incorporated with air flyer that helps chefs cook without using oil.
SM Rezwan Alam Shiplu, additional director (mobile) of sales department, claims that Walton has secured the second top position in country’s mobile market. About 50 models including X-2, X-2 mini, X-3 and Z-X of Primo series are put on display at the fair.
