The election of Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj is coming nearer. The two candidates are contesting in the election and they are campaigning day and night.
However, this year’s upazila elections are only contested by the candidates of ruling Awami League. One of them is a party nominated candidate and the other is a rebel candidate . Liaquat Hossain Khoka MP is allegedly favouring revel candidate.
On the other hand, the list of party candidates was finalised on March 1 in the local government nomination board meeting. Besides, Mosharraf Hossain was nominated for Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj. However, Acting General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Kalam of Sonargaon Upazila Awami League can not accept the candidacy of Mosharraf Hossain. As a result, he remained in the election field as a rebel candidate.

It is learnt that, in the elections held in Sonargaon municipality in December 2015, Liakat Hossain Khoka supported Awami League’s rebel candidate Sadekur Rahman.
In addition, Liakat Hossain Khoka was nominated from the Jatiya Party without taking the priority of nomination of Awami League boat nomination in the Eleventh Jatiya Sangsad election in the year 2018. In the last two terms, the local level leaders of the Awami League opposed the opposition.
