Police recovered the body of a local money lender from Charkushali village in Tungipara upazila of Gopalganj on Friday morning.
Police found marks of wounds on the body Lutfar Rahman Molla, son of late Kuddus Molla of Charkushali village of the upazila.
Lutfar’s son Sajib Molla said his father went to a tea stall in the Ashrayan Kendra area from Khalek Bazar in Tungipara around 10pm on Thursday when he received a call and left the place.
Later, locals spotted the body on the side of the road at Ramzan’s house in the village around 11 pm.
Police on Friday morning sent the body to Gopalganj General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
AKM Sultan Mahmud, Officer-in-charge of Tungipara Police Station said the body had wounds on the back of the head, face and eyes. Police suspect he was hacked to death.
Police have launched an operation to arrest those involved in the killing. Preparations are underway to file a case in this regard, the OC added.
