New power gen tech: Local inventor gets huge response

UNB, Dhaka :
The local inventor of a new technology for power generation using gravitational energy has received a huge response from local and international power and technology companies.
The main feature of the new technology, ‘Heavy Circular Moving Object’ s Triggering Energy (HECMOTE)’, is the generation of electricity through using gravitational force instead of any fuel.
A special device will capture the gravitational force from heavy circular moving object and rotate the generator to produce electricity.
The installation cost of per megawatt (MW) power plant under this technology is Tk 8 crore while the production cost of per unit electricity is only Tk 0.20. After manpower and maintenance cost,
the generation cost will be Tk 0.65 per unit. Last year in December, Shahid Hossain announced his invention and sought local and international help to commercially apply his technology for power generation.
Following his announcement, so far 20 local and international firms across the globe have contacted him and offered to commercialise his technology.
“We’ve received about 20 offers from different local and international companies and organisations to commercially use our technology, develop power plant and generate electricity,” Shahid Hossain, also managing director of Ultramax Power Development Ltd, told UNB.
He informed that 40 percent of the offers came from abroad, including the USA, Germany, Poland, South Africa, Singapore, India and Pakistan.
“USAID also showed interest and offered us to work with them. We’re supposed to sit with them to discuss our technology,” said Shahid Hossain.
He, however, said his company is negotiating with the international companies to pick up best one to go forward with the technology.
“But, at present, my top preference is to register the patent of my technology with US patent authority to secure my technology. We’ve already applied with the department concerned in the USA for patent registration through a legal expert,” he maintained.
He also informed that currently eminent scientists Prof Dr Shamsher Ali is supervising the technology and advising him for further improvement.
Shahid, a student of Diploma Engineering class of a private college, has already set up a 65 KVA power plant at Tongi on a pilot basis and has been generating 50 kilowatt electricity from the plant.
