During the ongoing hot humid days , load-shedding has paralyzed the lives of the people of Khulna region. Repeated load-shedding has created panic situation . Study of examinees are hampering for the load shedding.
Loadshedding is occurred even before Iftar and during the period of Sehri,said the local people.
Consumers are facing power deficiency of 138 Mega watt per day.
Massive load-shedding paralyzed the lives of Khulna city dwellers. Due to shut down of electric line, the load-shedding is causing unbearable sufferings to the people of 10 districts of Khulna Division, sources said.
Kadom Ali Hazra , a shopkeeper told this correspondent that due to repeated load-shedding , his sale is severely hampering . Shafiqul Islam , resident of Daulatpur Pabla Keshoblal road area said, We are being compelled to suffer a lot due to repeated load-shedding, Im not performing my Tarabi prayer properly and my children can not continue their studies due to repeated load-shedding.
It is alleged that the electricity staff are intentionally making artificial electric crisis, creating immense suffering to the inhabitants of Khulna region. As no proper action is taken against the staffs and officials of power sector by its higher authorities, they have been giving untold sufferings to the common people of south-western region, it is also alleged.
West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited is engaged for supplying electricity at 21 districts of the south-western part of the country. Due to shut down of 6 power units, desired electricity is not being produced and as such load-shedding is causing distress in this region. Concerned sources said, due to having old and defective lines, repairing lines and changing lines, load-shedding is going on repeatedly.
Repeated load-shedding has been causing serious troubles particularly for the students, professional bodies and journalists. Students can not continue their lessons, professional bodies can not do their works properly and journalists can not send important news and photos due to unbearable load-shedding. Shahana Yasmin, a College student and resident of Pabla Shobuj Shangh Road area told this Correspondent that due to repeated load-shedding her studies are hampering. Some staffs of WZPDCL do not pay any heed to the persons who give complain for electricity. Rather, they often misbehave with the common people. Besides, they shut down the electricity whimsically. Long time's load-shedding has been suffering acutely.
On condition of anonymity, an Engineer of division-2 said, "We do not shut down electricity intentionally, we do it due to reasonable causes." Md. Zillur Rahman , Manager of Khulna Pally Bidyut Samity said , Around 4 lacs consumers are facing power outage due to gas deficiency . Azharul Islam , Managing Director of WZPDCL said , Due to Gas and Diesel deficiencies , consumers are facing power outage.
He said adding that supply is decreasing against demand and as such consumers are facing power outage since the last three days.
Sylhet Bureau adds: The people of Sylhet, who were devastated by the catastrophic floods, are now in the throes of load shedding. From town to village,terrible load shedding everywhere. However, the people of rural areas are suffering the most. Load shedding goes on day and night in the village. As different areas of the city are under PDB, load shedding is done on a regular basis.
However, the people of the rural areas under the Rural Electrification Board are facing severe hardships. Residents complain that the village is without electricity for most of the 24 hours.The level of load shedding has increased since Sunday, said people in rural areas.
According to sources, Palli Bidyut Samiti has drawn lines everywhere in rural areas. But it is not able to supply more than the customer's demand.
Due to this, load shedding continues in rural areas. Terrible load shedding has been seen as a steep blow to the flood-hit villages.
Due to the floods, most of the villages in Sylhet were deprived of uninterrupted power supply during the fortnight. Not only electricity but also the sun has not been seen in the sky of Sylhet for 20 days. Nature has been burning in the hot sun since last July 2 when the rains decreased and the temperature has also increased.
Miserable public life in the sweltering heat. Meanwhile, students have to prepare for SSC exams. In this situation, terrible load shedding has caused misery to the people.
Abdus Salam, a customer of Ghilachhara Union in Fenchuganj, while talking to Sajul Islam, said that they are in the grip of endless misery of electricity. You have to stay without electricity for hours day and night. If you complain, it is as if ghee has been poured on the fire. On this day, the people of the whole area are deprived of electricity.Besides, Baralekha upazila of Moulvibazar is a victim of mother-in-law behavior of rural power officials.
