Liza loses play-off match in World Women’s Chess

WIM Shamima Akter Liza (Rating-2077) of Bangladesh lost against 4th seeded players of the event and world 7 no highest woman rated player GM Harika Dranovalli (Rating-2573) of India by 0.5-1.5 points in the play-off match of the World Women’s Chess Championship-2017 now being held in Tehran in Iran.
In the Play-off match held on Monday last, WIM Liza leveled her score 1-1 points against bronze medalist of World women Chess GM Harika in round 1 games. According to tournament rules WIM Liza and GM Harika had to play in a play-off match for qualify in 2nd round.
Liza lost her 1st game and drew in 2nd games. She had been in better position in second game. WIM Liza cannot qualify in 2nd round due to losing in play-off match. Bangladesh Chess Federation provided all her expenditures including air tickets.
