Bangladesh national women’s champion WIM Shamima Akter Liza finished 66th in the Open A Group of the 28th Cannes Winter Chess Festival that concluded at Cannes in France on Sunday.
Liza earned 3.5 points from nine-round competition after making a draw in the last round match against FM Gavilan Mario Diaz (Rating-2364) of Spain.
International Master Ankit Rajpara of India emerged as the champion while GM Peralta Fernando of Argentina became runner-up securing seven points each.
A total of 84 players from 23 countries, including 18 Grandmasters, 19
International Masters, 13 Fide Masters, two Women’s Grandmasters and four Women’s International Masters, took part in the event.
