WIM Shamima Akter Liza of Narayanganj emerged champion in the Sultana Kamal 34th National Women Chess Championship that concluded on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Chess federation Hall- Room here.
Liza earned 9 points out of 11 games to clinch the national woman title.
It was the 3rd occasions Liza to clinch the title. Earlier she was woman champion in 2005 and 2010.
In the day’s 11th or last round, Liza beat Mahmuda Hoque Chowdhury Moly. Liza won her 9 games and lost 2 games against Eva and Tanima in this championship.
Besides, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva of Manikganj finished unbeaten runner-up. Eva earned 8.5 points to finish runner-up. Eva won 6 games and drew 5 games.
In the last round, Eva drew with Tanima Parveen. WIM Rani Hamid of Titas Club and WFM Zakia Sultana of Narayanganj earned 8 points each.
