Liton, Shanto shine in Abahani’s 27-run win vs Mohammedan

Abahani Ltd registered a hard-fought 27-run victory against Mohammedan Sporting Club in the 8th round of the 12-team Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPDCL) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) Ground 4 in Savar on Monday.
Despite his side losing the day’s match, Mohammedan skipper Raqibul Hasan was adjudged man of the match for his sparkling century of 190 off 138 balls on the way to team collection of 339 for 9 in 50 overs.
Raqibul who featured 17 boundaries and 10 sixes, shared magnificent 175 in 21 overs with Charith Asalanka in the 4th stand which departed at 213/4 in 29.1 overs, starting from 38/3 in 8.1 overs.
Raqibul was caught by Manan Sharma off Kazi Anik bowling at 338/8 in 49.2 overs.
Charith Asalanka stayed for 63 off 60 balls, including eight boundaries, while Nazmul Hossain Milon and Rony Talukdar added 22 and 19 runs.
Manan Sharma jolted Mohammedan’s batting castle capturing five wickets for 47 runs in 10 overs. Kazi Anik bagged two wickets for 72 while Saqlain Sajib and Mohammad Saifuddin took one wicket each for the winners.
Batting first after winning the toss, defending champion Abahani collected 366 for 5 in 50 overs where opener Liton Kumar Das and Nazmul Hossain Shanto hit one century each scoring 135 and 110 runs respectively.
Liton shared 103 in 16 overs with Shadman Islam in the opening stand before sharing another figure of 109 in 16.1 overs in the 2nd stand with Shanto.
Liton featured 15 boundaries and two overs boundaries off 103 balls in the innings while Shanto faced 100 balls to fire three boundaries and six over boundaries.
Shuvagata Hom played stormy innings of unbeaten 48 off 27 balls, including three boundaries and two over boundaries, while Saif Hassan and Shadman Islam added 29 and 28 runs respectively.
Taijul Islam captured three wickets for 57 runs in 10 overs. Shamsur Rahman and Kamrul Islam Rabbi took one wicket each.
Abdul Mazid hammered a century of 116 runs for Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club helped secure a huge 119-run victory against all-losers Victoria Sporting Club at BKSP Ground 3, Savar.
Prime Doleshwar scored 339 for 6 in 50 overs and their spin bowler Arafat Sunny’s six-for 56 in 9.5 overs devastated Victoria’s batting line to finish the innings at 220 for all in 45.5 overs.
Man of the match Mazid played an innings of 114 balls to feature seven boundaries and five over boundaries while Chathuranga de Silva quick fired 64 off 25 balls, including six boundaries and four sixes.
Sharifullah (not out 39 off 25b; 2×4; 2×4), opener Imtiaz Hossain (36 off 41b; 5×4) and Shahriar Nafees(34 off 65b; 2×4) were the other notable scorers for the for the side batted first after winning the toss.
Mohammad Arafat and Mahbubul Alam bagged two wickets each for 48 and 58 runs in 9 and 8 overs respectively. Salehin Shad and Moinul Islam took one wicket each.
Shafiul Hayet (66 off 65b; 5×4; 3×4) and Moinul Islam (64 off 90b; 4×4; 1×6) stayed for half centuries and also shared 96 in 19 overs in the 5th stand which carried team total to 135/5 in 25.1 overs from 39/4 in 6.1 overs.
Mohammad Arafat (28), Mahbubul Alam (24) and Salehin Shad (not out 12) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
Apart from Sunny’s six-for, Marshall Ayub, Enamul Haque (2) and Chathuranga de Silva took one wicket each.
Legends of Rupganj defeated Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity by 28 runs at Khan Saheb Osman ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Batting first, Legends of Rupganj scored 239 for all in 49.5 overs and restricted their opponent Khelaghar SKS at 211 for all in 48.1 overs.
Man of the match Yasir Ali stayed for a half century of 59 off 69 balls, including four boundaries, for the winners.
Raza Ali Dar scored 46 off 58 balls including three boundaries and one six. Hasanuzzaman, Hamidul Islam and Mosharraf Hossain scored 36, 24 and 22 runs respectively.
Tanvir Islam captured three wickets for 54 runs in 9 overs. Dolar Mahmud bagged two wickets for 35 runs in 6.5 overs while Masum Khan,
Suraj Randiv and Robiul Islam Robi took one wicket each.
Nazimuddin (59 off 86b; 4×4) and Nazmus Sadat (52 off 74b; 1×4; 3×6) made one half century each for Khelaghar SKS. Salauddin Pappu (38 off 27b; 6×4; 2×6) was another notable scorer for the side.
Naeem Islam, Mosharraf Hossain, Mohammad Sharif and Raza Ali Dar took two wickets each conceding 16, 27, 47 and 63 runs in 5, 9, 9.1 and 10 overs respectively.
