Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque on Wednesday said that they have prepared a list of 40 missing people, mostly who have suspected links to militancy.
“We’ve prepared the list with the help of detectives, and published it after talking to the family members of those missing people. Most of them have involvement in militancy,” the police chief said.He was talking to reporters over the country’s current law-and-order situation at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
“If those young men want to return to normal life we’ll provide them all-out support, and I believe, the society will also consider it,” the IGP said.
Responding to the call made by police earlier some misguided youths have returned to normal life and their identities have been kept secret so that they could lead a normal life, he said.
In reply to a question about BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s doubt over Kalyanpur drive, the IGP said, “The remark of Khaleda Zia about Kalyanpur drive is shocking. Such comments will help the militants,” he said.
He also termed the Kalyanpur drive as hundred percent successful and transparent.
Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said that some foreigners might have link with militants.
He was speaking in a programme arranged by Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) at DMP media center on Wednesday.
