The government has released a list of 12,619 teachers centrally selected for appointment to private schools and colleges.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has termed the selection a ‘milestone’ in Bangladesh’s education sector.
“We had to work very hard for this. It was done very secretly. There is no scope for nepotism or solicitation,” he said at a news conference after the publication on Sunday.
“There is no scope for demanding money from anyone. Please let me know if someone demands money. We’ll take legal steps on charge of bribery,” he added.
He also urged the locals to help and respect the new teachers. The Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) made the list for the first time after curbing the power of managing committees of private institutions in recruitment of teachers.
It picked up subject-wise candidates from those who cleared registration exams.
It was said in the news conference that the NTRCA gathered information on the vacant posts of 14,669 teachers in 6,470 schools, colleges, madrasas and vocational institutions throughout Bangladesh.
Nearly 250,000 candidates who passed the registration exams applied online for job.
The NTRCA used a software to pick the candidates against the vacancies.
No candidates applied for 718 posts while appointment to 685 have been halted. No woman applied for 204 posts reserved for them.
