UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin confirmed on Wednesday that the city of Lisbon will host the final round of the European Champions League, receiving a total of seven matches from the quarterfinals, semis and the final game.
The matches remaining to complete the tournament will be played at the Estadio da Luz in the Portuguese capital between Aug 12 and 23.
Atletico de Madrid, Atalanta, Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain are already qualified for the quarterfinals, with the winners of the clashes between Manchester City-Real Madrid, Juventus-Lyon, Barcelona-Naples and Bayern-Chelsea still to be defined.
These matches, according to Ceferin, can be played in the Portuguese cities of Guimaraes and Porto, and all matches of the tournament will be decided in a “single game,” as opposed to the traditional two-legged affair.
UEFA also revealed that the Europa League finals will be played in Germany, while the European Super Cup will be played in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
