Lily Islam’s Rabindra Sangeet Evening today

Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) is organising an evening of Rabindra Sangeet by Lily Islam and recitation by Mozibur Rahman Dilu at 6:30 pm today at the IGCC in Gulshan-1, Dhaka.
Lily Islam is one of the leading Rabindra Sangeet singers of Bangladesh. She got her degree in Rabindra Sangeet from Vishwa Bharati University, Shantiniketan.
She was trained under legendary Rabindra Sangeet artists Konika Bandopadhyay and Neelima Sen.
She is a leading performer in all TV channels in Bangladesh and India. She is the winner of the ICCR scholarship for her research on “Evolution of the Stylization of Tagore Songs”.
Lily Islam has released three audio cassettes, ten CDs and one VCD of Rabindra Sangeet in her career.
She also contributed her voice to the historic CD of compilation of Tagore songs-“Shruti Geetobitan”-released in December 2011.
She has performed in different countries such as India, Australia, the USA, London and Dubai. She is the founder of the organization ‘Uttrayan’ in Bangladesh.
Mojibur Rahman Dilu is a TV and stage actor, director, playwright. He is a freedom fighter. He directed and acted in the play ‘Kingsuk je Morute’ which was selected in the First Drama festival of Bangladesh in 1976.
He acted in one of the main roles in the first short film of Bangladesh ‘Agami’.
Dilu adopted a famous play written by Bretol Brest ‘Three penny opera’ in Bengali “Jonotar Rangoshala” in which he acted as a guest artist in a major role.
The play was a great success with 150 shows in Bangladesh and was also staged by famous theatre group ‘Bohurupi’ in Kolkata. His own group ‘Dhaka Drama’ has staged two plays in Kolkata. He has acted in TV serials in Bangladesh the most famous being “Shangsoptok”.
