Two farmers were killed and another sustained injuries when lightning struck on them on Friday morning.
The deceased were identified as Ratan Mollah, 35, son of late Mohan Mollah of Harihara Natunpara and Wazded Mandal, 55, son of Mansur Mandal of Harihara Puratanpara under Sailkupa upazila.
Another Akidul Mandal, son of dead Wazed Mandal sustained lighting injuries and referred to Faridpur medical college hospital in a critical state.
Locals and family members said, all the three were engaged in jute fibre separating work at a filed at Harihhara village at about 8.30 AM. Suddenly they received lightning attack. Ratan Mollah and Wazed Mollah died on the spot.
Wazed Mandal’s son Akidul was rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital and then referred to Faridpur medical college hospital in a critical state.
When contacted, Sailkupa police station officer in chare Alamgir Hossain admitted the incidents of killing by the lighning.
