An old farmer was killed and his wife was injured as lightning struck them while they were engaged in cutting grass for cows in a beel at a village in Kochua Upazila on Monday.
The deceased farmer was identified as Md Moslem Mia ,55, and his injuured wife- Nilufar Begum,45,. She is still undergoing treatment at Kochua Health Complex.
They both are inhabitants of Durgapur village under 3 No Bitara Union in Kochua Upazila.
While they both were cutting grass for cows in the nearby Ghugra beel behind their home, lightning suddenly struck them and burnt some parts of Moslem Mia’s back side and other parts of the body. His wife Nilufa was also injured by the blaze. . They were rushed to Kochua Health Complex where the on duty doctor declared Moslem Mia dead. Nilufa was admitted.
