At least three persons were killed and five others including two children injured in separate incidents of lightning at Chakaria upazila here today.
“It has been drizzling and all of a sudden two thunderbolts fell on Paglir Beel and Medha Kachchap villages in Chakaria upazila around 1.30 pm, killing three people on the spot and injuring five others,” said Putkhali Union Parishad Chairman Maulana Abdur Rahman.
The deceased are: Nurul Huda, 40, son of Ali Ahmed, Ajgor Ali, 40, son of late Fazor Ali and Ali Ahmed, 45, son of Abdul Khalek while the injured are: Rafiq Ullah, 40, Abul Kalam, 30, Amena Khatun, 35, Hasan, 8, and Aklima Akter,10. They are the inhabitants of villages of Paglir Beel and Medha Kachchap.
The injured were rush to Dulahazra Christian Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Probhas Chandra Dhar also confirmed the incidents.
