At least three farmers were killed in separate lighting strikes in Pakundia and Itna upazilas of Kishoreganj on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Md Shahid Mia (50) son of Late Bazlu Mia of village Baratia under Pakundia upazila, Mozzaffor (55) of Mriga village and Rabiul Awal (35) of Raitoti village of Itna upazila.
Locals and Pakundia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Elias said that he was hit by lighting while harvesting Boro paddy at Baratia Paddy field on Wednesday morning and leaving him dead on the spot.
In another incident, Mozzaffor and Rabiul Awal were killed by thunderbolt while harvesting Boro paddy at Mrigha and Raitoti Haor Wednesday noon.
Locals and Itna Police Station Officer-in-Charge Morsheduzzaman confirmed this.
