Lightning killed Saudi expatriate in Gournadi

A Saudi expatriate named Rajib Chaprashi (28) was killed in lightning strike t Uttar Baurgati village of Barthi Union under Gauranadi upazila of Barishal district.
The incident took place at around 2pm on Friday and deceased was identified as Rajib, son of Abdul Jalil Chaprashi of the village.
Local UP member Badruzzaman Khan Sabuj said Rajib Chaprashi, 26, a Saudi expatriate, was returning home in the pouring rain after performing Friday’s Juma prayers at the Jame Mosque of Peada Bari in Uttar Baurgati village of the upazila on Friday afternoon.
On the way, when Rajib reached near the pond of Motaleb Sardar of the village around 2 pm, suddenly lighting stroke him and Rajib died on the spot as most of his body was burnt by the lightning.
Upon receiving the news, his relatives and worshipers rescuing Rajib’s body and took it to the house of the deceased and informed police.
After inspecting the spot, Sub Inspector Abdul Haque of Gournadi Police Station said that 80 percent of the body of Saudi expatriate Rajib Chaprashi, who was killed in the lightning strike, was burnt. Relatives have been asked to bury Rajib’s body without conducting an autopsy on the instructions of senior police officials.
A general diary has been filed at the police station in this regard, said SI Abdul Haque.
