At least three children were killed and seven others injured in a lightning strike while they were eating almonds at Sundar pahari village in Tahirpur haor of Sunamganj on Thursday noon.
The victims were identified as Tahida (11) daughter of Abdul Halim, Ripa Begum (10) daughter of Fazar Ali and Aminul (11) son of Abdul Aziz. They are primary students.
The critical injured persons have been shifted to Tahirpur Upazila health complex and Sunamganj General Hospital for treatment.
According to the locals and Police source the water level in the haor areas near Synderpur village is rising and flooding, the farmers almost fields. In the morning, the men, women and Children of the village go to pick the ruts from these fields. Very rain and thunder started at 12.00 pm. The children died on the spot due to lighting.
