Lighter ship sinks in Bay

The lighter ship ‘Titu-19’ sank in the Bay on its way to Munshiganj with the raw materials of cement industry. At around 11:30 am on Monday , the ship owned by Abul Khair Group sank three nautical miles before Bhasanchar and sank.
According to the source, there were 1,250 tons of clinker in the lighter vessel.. An oil tanker and a lighter ship rescued 13 sailors from the sinking ship.
Bangladesh Lighter Workers Union Vice-President and Joint Secretary of the Shipping Workers Federation. Nabi Alam told the media that ‘Oil Tanker Arju’ rescued 6 people from the sinking ‘Titu-19’ and ‘Begum Rokeya’ rescued 5 people.According to BIWTA sources, there is no problem in navigating the channel due to the sunken ship. However, the owner has been asked to rescue the ship and take it to a safe place.
