Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24 hours ending at 9 am today.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Khulna and Barishal divisions,” said a Met bulletin issued on Tuesday morning. A few places in Chattogram, Sylhet, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions may see light to moderate rain and moderately heavy to heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing at 9 am on Tuesday, the bulletin said. Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay while the low over Chhattisgarh and adjoining Odisha merged to the monsoon axis.
“The trough of monsoon axis runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Assam across Gangetic West Bengal and the Central part of Bangladesh,” the bulletin said, adding that one of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
The maximum temperature was recorded 36.5 degrees Celsius on Monday at Nikli in Dhaka division while Tuesday’s minimum temperature 24.5 degrees Celsius at Teknaf in Chattogram division.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am on Tuesday was recorded 37 mm at Teknaf in Chattogram division.
Meanwhile, another met office message said squally weather is unlikely over North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh as maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower signal.
