Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over the country in 24 hours as of 9 am today. It may occur at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Khulna, Barishal Dhaka and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at some places over the country, said a met office press release here on Monday.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country during the period, the release added.
According to the release, the monsoon axis runs through Rajasthan, Horyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and thence northeastwards to Assam across the northern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends to Northeast Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
The maximum temperature was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius on Sunday at Ishwardi in Rajshahi and Monday’s minimum temperature 24.0 degrees Celsius at Badalgachhi and Rangamati in Rajshahi and Chattogram divisions.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours as of 6 am yesterday was recorded 94 mm at Netrokona in Mymensingh division.
