Lifebuoy World’s Number o1 health soap Lifebuoy celebrates Global Hand washing Day 2015 in Bangladesh by launching its “Lifesaver Volunteer Program”.
Lifebuoy is committed to reduce child mortality across the world and help eradicate deaths from preventable infections like diarrhoea and pneumonia. As a part of this commitment, Lifebuoy welcomes individuals to join Lifebuoy’s “Help A Child Reach 5” campaign by teaching children the habit of hand washing with soap. This is the first time that people are given a chance to contribute to Lifebuoy’s goal of changing the hand washing behavior of one billion people by 2020.
1.7 million children below the age of 5 die from diarrhoea or pneumonia globally every year. This can be prevented by the simple act of washing hands with soap.
The Lifesaver Volunteer Program calls for volunteers to spend one hour per week over a four-week period teaching a group of children hand washing habits using Lifebuoy’s School of 5 program in a local school. This program will teach children to wash hands on 5 key occasions of the day: before and after meal, after using toilet and during bath. Running over the course of 21 days, the School of 5 uses a unique combination of comics, puzzles, stories and games to teach children about the importance of hand washing.
Global Hand washing Day celebration event was graced by the presence of Mr. Zaved Akhtar, Brand Building Director of Unilever Bangladesh Limited; Ms. Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, Chairman of Adcomm Limited; Mr. Aly Zaker, Chairman of Asiatic 360; Mr. Mustafa Manwar, eminent artist amongst others. The program was further enlightened by the presence of the proclaimed real Lifebuoy Lifesaver Shanto Dash, a primary school student from Nishchintopur, Chittagong and Mr. Wasama Doja, Head of Cultural Preservation, Friendship.
Along with this, the program marked the unveiling of the first TV commercial of Lifebuoy Lifesaver Volunteer Program.
World’s number 1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan sent a special message where he testifies his engagement with this program and invites everyone to take part in this global cause.
Lifebuoy believes that with everyone’s spontaneous contribution the Lifesaver Volunteer Program can truly become a success. Lifebuoy intends to continue its efforts in protecting children in the years to come.
