Marking birth centenary of Bangabandhu: LGED Road maintenance month inaugurable in Naogaon

Like all over the country, rural road maintenance program was inaugurated on 1 October in 11 upazilas through LGED under Naogaon District Local Government LGED office.
On the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation, Maksudul Alam, Executive Engineer, LGED Division, District Local Government, inaugurated the project under the theme “Promise of Mujib Year will be road reform”. It may be mentioned that there are 3,045 km of paved roads of different classes in the district. These roads have been made accessible mainly to Growth Center Bazar, Union Parishad, Farm, Financial Education, Social and Welfare Institutions and other rural service providers.
As a result, it has been possible to increase agricultural production, facilitate marketing of agricultural products, and make agricultural inputs easily available at the farm level.
In addition to providing health education and administrative services, these rural roads have made an outstanding contribution to reach the doorsteps of the marginalized rural population.
October / 2020 and March / 2021 have been considered as maintenance months to intensify LGED’s month-long maintenance activities to reflect the slogan of Mujib’s year of promise, the road will be reformed.
Tenders have already been floated for the repair of major damaged roads. Important road repairs for which tenders have not been invited will be repaired through this labor intensive program. Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mr. Tajul Islam MP inaugurated the maintenance work on September 30.
LGED Executive Engineer Maksudul Alam, Senior Assistant Engineer Mubarak Hossain, Senior Assistant Engineer Emran Khan, Assistant Engineer and Naogaon Sadar Upazila Engineer Imtiaz Zahirul Haque and other officials and employees of LGED were present at the inauguration ceremony.
