LGED implements Tk 170.73 cr projects in Narsingdi

The Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) is implementing various projects of Taka 170.73 crore in the district during the fiscal year 2013-14.
Executive Engineer of LGED, Narsingdi, ASM Kabir said most of the projects have already been completed and the construction of other projects are going on satisfactorily.
During the period, the department has constructed 45.64 kilometre (km) pucca road at a cost of over Taka 20.20 crore and maintenance of 125.80 km roads in different upazilas of the district at a cost of over Taka 13.70 cror. In addition, 137 primary schools were constructed in different upazilas of the district at a cost of over Taka 28.36 crore.
The executive engineer said, adding construction of 630-metre long and 9.1-metre wide bridge on Narsingdi-Karimpur road over the Meghna river at a cost of Taka 80.82 crore and another bridge on Adiabad-PB Nagar road over Arialkha river at a cost of Taka 15.54 crore is going on satisfactorily.
Besides, construction of three Muktijuddah Complex buildings at a cost of over Taka 7.09 crore and 61 houses for disadvantaged freedom fighters at a cost of over Taka 5 crore are still going on.
The sources said the LGED has also created employment opportunities for 700 women workers in the district for the next five years under Rural Employment Road Maintenance project programme.
