Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) has implemented different development works at a cost TK 480 . 68 cr in Chapainawabganj districts in last nine years.
The implemented works are development works of roads, construction works of resident for indigent freedom fighters, development of markets and haat (weekly rural market), construction works of buildings of different union parishad complex.
Of them Sheikh Hasina Bridge and small irrigation projects are plays most vital role, especially rural people.
They also create employment facilities for poor women.
After construction of Sheikh Hasina Bridge on Mohananda River at Shaheber Ghat in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, the bridge connected seven shoal unions with district town, previously all were isolated from main land. The bridge changed their livelihood of deprived shoal people.
LGED also brought forty thousands bigha land under irrigation by 14 irrigation projects, at cost TK 14 crore 50 lakh and 85 thousands. The project implemented under participatory small water resource development sector projects.
They also implemented a project that lifting water from Mohananda river through low lift pumps for using paddy and other crops fields. For this, under ground water are using less than the previous year.
According to LGED office in Chapainawabganj, Local Government and Engineering Department-LGED implemented different development works including Sheikh Hasina Bridge at cost TK 480 crore and 68 lakh in Chapainawabganj districts in last nine years.
Of them, they developed or constructed eight hundred kilometres of road at cost TK 343 crore 6 lakh and 97 thousand, they built 2798 meters bridge and culverts including Sheikh Hasina at cost TK 101 crore 81 lakh and 32 thousand. They developed of 27 markets and haat (rural weekly market) at cost TK 4 crore 17 lakh and 71 thousands, extension works of three upazila complex buildings at cost TK 11 crore 10 lakh and 73 thousand, buildings of eight union parishad complexes at cost TK 5 crore and 37 lakh, built residential facilities for 34 indigent landless freedom fighters at cost TK 2 crore 58 lakh and five thousands and also constructed dam at cost TK 19 lakh 29 thousands.
Siddiqur Rahman Bhuiyan, executive engineer of LGED in Chapainawabganj said, they implemented several development works in district under vision 2021 of honourable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He also said, after construction of 546 meters long Sheikh Hasina Bridge at cost TK 55 crore and 80 lakh on Mohananda River at Shaheber Ghat, the bridge connected seven shoal unions with district town, previously all were isolated from main land. The bridge e changed their livelihood of deprived shoal people.
