PM to leaders: Let govt know about people`s problems

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Friday asked her party leaders and activists to inform the government of various problems of the common people so that those can be resolved in time.
“It’s the responsibility of the ruling party to let the government know the various problems of the common people so that those can be resolved taking necessary measures,” she said. The Prime Minister was addressing the first meeting of the newly constituted Presidium of Awami League at her official
residence Ganobhaban in the evening. Noting that Awami League has given people the country’s independence, Sheikh Hasina said now it is working to ensure their economic emancipation.
“To develop the country as quick as possible is the prime aim of the party,” she said. She sought cooperation from the party leaders and workers in achieving the desired socioeconomic uplift. Referring to the recently held national council of Awami League, the Prime Minister termed it as very successful, saying all, including foreign guests and leaders who attended the council, highly appreciated the party for such a successful arrangement.
They also lauded the country’s socioeconomic development in the last couple of years under her dynamic leadership, she said. Hasina reminded the party leaders that Bangladesh and its citizens must go ahead keeping their heads high before the world community as Bangalees are a victorious nation. The ruling party’s national council was held on October 22-23 when its new presidium was formed.
Names of 16 out of 19 members of the Presidium were announced immediately after the council while that of three others would be announced later. Members of the new presidium are Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Matia Chowdhury, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammad Nasim, Kazi Zafarullah, Syed Ashraful Islam, Sahara Khatun, Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, Nurul Islam Nahid, Dr Abdur Razzak, Faruk Khan, Abdul Mannan Khan, Ramesh Chandra Sen, Pijush Kanti Bhattachariya.
