Legends of Rupganj beat Dhaka Abahani Limited by 14 runs in their match of the Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) Ground-3 in Savar on Thursday.
Sent into bat first, Legends of Rupganj piled up a massive total of 297 for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated 50 overs and then restricted Abahani Limited to 283 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Second-down Naeem Islam of Legends of Rupganj hit a marvelous 124. His 109-ball innings was belted with 14 fours and four sixes.
He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his terrific innings.
One-down Chirag Jani notched up a polished 49. His 73-ball innings was decorated with six fours.
Sabbir Rahman, Tanvir Hayder, Raqibul Islam of Legends of Rupganj scored 30, 23 (not out) and 22 runs respectively.
Mosaddek Hossain of Dhaka Abahani Limited bagged two wickets in the space of 58 runs, while Arafat Sunny, Mohammad Saifuddin, Tanvir Islam and Kamrul Islam took one wicket each conceding 50, 51,51 and 57 runs respectively.
Later, Towhid Hridoy of Dhaka Abahani Limited notched up a sparkle 74. His 82-ball innings was decorated with six fours.
Mosaddek Hossain played a captain’s knock of 66. He hit three sixes and five fours in his 77-ball innings.
Number-8 batter Mohammad Saifuddin remained unbeaten with 43. His 29-ball knock saw three sixes and two fours.
Openers Mohammad Naim and Munim Shahriar added 35 and 26 runs respectively to the Dhaka Abahani Limited total. Mashrafe Bin Mortaza grabbed three wickets at the cost of 63 runs, while Naeem Islam, Sanjit Saha, Chirag Jani, Nabil Samad and Shafiul Islam took one wicket each for 33, 41, 42, 48 and 51 runs respectively.
