Staff Reporter :A Supreme Court lawyer today sent a legal notice to the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and the Chief Election Commissioner for declaring sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique’s Tangail-4 parliamentary membership vacant in 24 hours.SC lawyer Eunus Ali Aknod served the notice saying that Siddique was removed from the position of minister and all other posts of the ruling Awami League after his derogatory comments about hajj and Tablig. Now he is neither a member of a political party nor a member of the parliament, he said. “So, his seat should be declared vacant,” the SC lawyer said in the notice. On October 24, he lost his primary membership in the AL, marking an end to Latif’s five-decade-long association with the party.Eunus will file a writ petition seeking necessary order from the HC if Siddiqui’s parliament membership is not declared vacant in 24 hours, the lawyer said.
