Deputy Minister of Water Resources AKM Enamul Haque Shamim said all forms of leave of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB) officers and employees working in the river erosion-affected areas have been cancelled ahead of the monsoon.
“We have taken adequate measures ahead of the monsoon. That is why all forms of leave of the BWDB officials have been cancelled in the river erosion-affected areas,” said the Deputy Minister at a press conference at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
“I along with the high officials concerned of the ministry have visited and identified those river-erosion affected and vulnerable areas,” he said, adding that all concerned have been advised to speed up the pace of their works to stop river erosion in their respective areas.
Secretary of Water Resources Ministry Kabir Bin Anwar and other officials were present at the press conference.
