Adamdighi Upazila of Bogra is famous for its environmental and health friendly mats and the main material used for making those mats is currently on the verge of extinction. All of a sudden, artificial leaves and mats made of plastic have started to occupy the place of natural leaves and mats. Due to the new arrivals and the attractiveness, there is a boom in the establishment and sale of eye-catching pipes and mats made of plastic. Widely appreciated. As a result leaf cultivation and mat production has dropped to less than half.
Even those who are engaged in making cultivated leaf mats are making and marketing the mats by dyeing leaves even if they cannot design bahari. Pilgrims from different districts of the country including the capital are buying mats made of plastic and natural mats from Helalia Hut of Adamdighi Upazila of the famous Bogra district.
Due to the increasing demand for artificial floor mats with exotic colors and patterns, the activities of setting up mat shops and factories have accumulated.
In addition to jobs in automatic pipe making and mat weaving factories, many unemployed men and women are weaving mats without designs by hand at home using new technology pipes.
Income is good. Two days a week, on Sunday and Thursday, from early morning till noon, the retail and wholesale trade bustles in the Helalia market of Adamdighi upazila. The handmade and automatic machine-made mats here are in high demand due to their low prices.

It is known that for hundreds of years in Helalia, Chatani, Dhekra, Tarapur, Kashipur, Sandira, Chakjan, Prannathpur and neighboring Raninagar upazilas of Bogura, there was a reputation for leaf cultivation and eco-friendly sanitary mats made from leaves. Since the establishment of plastic mats (pipes) manufacturing plants in Helalia of Adamdighi in East and West Chatani near Hatt, Madar Molla near Santahar and Trimohani area of Raninagar, the demand for mats made of mats made of mats as well as mats made of plastic pipes have been increasing day by day. Because of this, hundreds of unemployed people in Sandira, Tarapur, Kajipur, Chatni, Dhekra, Prannathpur, Panla, Chakjan, Dariyapur, Malshan area of Santahar Union of Adamdighi Upazila are making good income by making plastic mats and selling them in the market. Unemployed people are making a living with low capital investment and low wages. Each 3/4 hand long plastic mat is sold wholesale from Tk 80 to Tk 100 depending on the design. Which costs 50 taka to 70 taka to make. At present, as this business is popular and profitable, the cultivated environment and health-friendly mat business is under threat. Many people involved in this industry said that they have been involved in making and selling mats for a long time. They have been manufacturing and marketing plastic mats. At present they have become self-reliant by doing this business. Chairman of Santahar Union Parishad Nahid Sultana Tripti said that several years ago we started an automatic factory for making plastic pipes and mats. Although the demand was low in the beginning, now the business is doing well due to the huge demand of this industry. There is a possibility of further expansion of this business in remote towns if the industry receives government patronage.
