Claiming that the country is going through leadership crisis, speakers at a programme on Friday said positive leadership need to come from the students of the country to move Bangladesh ahead and make it corruption-free.
The speakers came up with the opinion at the launching programme of a book titled “Bangladesher Chhatra Rajniti: Atit, Bartoman O Bhobisshyat” written by Mahmudur Rahman Manna, convener of Nagorik Oikya at the National Press Club.
During the programme, former president Abdul Qasim Mohammad Badruddoza Chowdhury said the movement demanding quota reform has proved that student politics has not died yet.
DUCSU election has not been held for 28 years because of lack of sincerity of the governments and as a result the country is facing leadership crisis, he said.
To build up a peaceful country, ideal leaders need to be built first and for
this leadership must come from the students, he said demanding that all political parties need to seek apology from the people of the country for their wrongdoings, and have to promise to work against corruption only then they will get support from people.
Amanullah Aman, BNP Chairperson’s advisor, said, today, student politics has become tender-based. And to come out from the culture, a movement has to come from the students of Dhaka University as it had done the same in the past.
