Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), a newly formed platform of eight left-leaning parties, on Tuesday submitted a memorandum to President Abdul Hamid requesting for a congenial environment for holding a free, fair, and participatory national election slated to be held by the end of December.
The alliance brought out a rally from Dhaka’s Dainik Bangla square at around 1:00pm and marched
towards the Bangabhaban to submit the memorandum, but law enforcers intercepted the rally near the Jatiya Press Club.
A 10-member delegation of LDA led by Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) President Mujahidul Islam Selim then went to Bangabhaban to submit the memorandum.
The demands, are dissolution of the Parliament before announcement of the election schedule, reconstitution of the Election Commission, formation a non-partisan election-time government, and creation of a congenial environment in the country’s political scenario for holding a free, fair, and participatory national election.
