Strengthening the Dr Kamal Hossain led political alliance, lawyers held a meeting on the Supreme Court premises on Tuesday to make a greater alliance. They planned about a grand rally in October to meet different demands.
Advocate Zainul Abedin, President of the SCBA, presided over the meeting held in the Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) conference room.
Senior Advocates Barrister Mainul Hosein, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamir Uddin Sircar, Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Advocate A J Mohammad Ali and Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan, Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, Advocate Jaglul Haider Afric, Advocate Helal Uddin, Advocate Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker, Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal, Barrister Kayser Kamal and Barrister A K M Ehsanur Rahman, among others, gave their opinions on the occasion.
The meeting continued from 3.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
After the meeting, Advocate Zainul Abedin said, “We sat together to form a greater unity among the lawyers like the ‘Jatiya Oikya Prokria’. Lawyers gave their opinions. We will finalize the committee and our demands in a day or two.”
In the discussion, lawyers focused on mainly three points— release of all the political accused, including BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, establishing democracy and rule of law in the country and national elections under a non-partisan Caretaker Government.
