A lawyer was sent to jail on Friday after being accused in a case of violating woman.
The arrested lawyer was identified as Tapas Chakraborty, 31, a member of Barisal District Bar Association, said Adv Jahangir Hossain, President of the association.
Ataur Rahman, officer in charge ( investigation) of Barisal Kotwali police station, said a woman (Moni Aktar) alleged before the police against Advocate Tapas about cheating, raping and torturing her several times during living together alluring for marriage since last two-year.
On basis of that allegations police detained Adv Tapas from Kalibari Road area of the city at about 10:30 PM Thursday.
In interrogation the allegations against the Advocate Tapas proved as facts.
On Friday the victim lodged a case against the accused lawyer under different sections of prevention of torture against women and children act.
Then police sent Advocate Tapas to court and the court rejecting his bail prayer sent him to jail on Friday afternoon, the police officer told.
