Lawlessness should bother govt

THE aberration of law and order due to inactivity of law enforcing agencies has made the country unsafe for ordinary people. The nation is getting panicked by blood chocking news every day as criminals and miscreants enjoying political shelters of the ruling party men in many cases are killing people and destroying their peaceful abode bringing the law and order situation to a breaking point. Reports of gruesome killings are highly disturbing prompting many to question the failure of law enforcing agencies to reign in the growing terror hitting the life of common people unprotected. The government is duty bound to make the life of the people safe from threats of powerful people and attacks of the goons. Robberies are rampant and hijacking of sacrificial cattle from roads and highways are at the peak. Life of many people is highly vulnerable for their property or safety of female members. Local police know many criminals but why they are not cracking down on them is the big question.
News report on Sunday said a female banker and her father were found dead in septic tanks at their house in Khulna city on Friday. Police suspected that the duo might have been strangled during a robbery. In Dinajpur, a cattle trader was murdered and burnt on Friday as he refused to pay ransom to local thugs. Victim’s family members said local goons had threatened the victim recently. In Joypurhat, criminals on Friday night stabbed another trader to death while returning home. On Saturday, some miscreants at Kasba in Brahmanbaria district killed a 40-year-old housewife in front of her minor son.
In the capital, the body of a newspaper employee was found decomposed packed in a suitcase in a Khilkhet boarding house on Friday three days after he was going missing. On Saturday, a youth was murdered by criminals on the roof of a one-storied building in Kadamtali area. Police recovered the bullet-hit body. Meanwhile, muggers stabbed a person and took away his motorcycle in the Hatirjheel area in the night. Savar police recovered the body of an unidentified young man in a sack from a jungle on Saturday evening. In the early hours of next day a gang of robbers took away gold ornaments and cash after stabbing two people at a house in Khilgaon area.
This is just a few incident reported over the last three days showing the people’s vulnerability of life and belongings while the law enforcers are proving of no help. Even from the capital’s Manik Mia Avenue muggers hijacked a cattle laden truck on Friday night showing damn to the city police despite claim of foolproof security all over. People are afraid of threats to society from criminals and miscreants that are taking the nation to the brink where lawlessness is becoming all time high.
It is clear that the government does not care what happens outside their protected circle. If the self-seekers are happy, that is everything. The general public has to fend for themselves.
