Law Minister Advocate Anisul Huq on Thursday said that the Law Ministry would extend all cooperation to the Acting Chief Justice, Md. Abdul Wahhab Miah.
He talked to the journalists after a courtesy visit to the Acting Chief Justice, Surendra Kumar Sinha, at his official residence.
“The Law Ministry acts as a bridge between the Executive and the Judiciary of a country. Even before, I cooperated two
Chief Justices from my office after taking my charge. I will continue my cooperation to the new Acting Chief Justice,” the Minister said.
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha went on leave for one month. As per the Constitution the next senior most judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will perform as the Chief Justice.
Later, the Law Minister went to the residence of Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha in the afternoon.
After entering the residence of the Chief Justice, the Law Minister waited there for sometime and enquired about the health of the Chief Justice. Then the Minister came out from the Chief Justice’s residence.
Later the Law Minister said, “I met with the Chief Justice at his residence. He was taking rest during my visit.”
Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha went on a one-month leave on health grounds from October 3, whose leave sparked debates in the legal and political arena.
