Law enforcers on alert

Police have been asked to remain alert to meet the emergency, as the Supreme Court on Monday rejected the review petition filed by Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman against his death sentence.
The directive came up in a meeting attended by the senior police officials at the Police Headquarters in the
city presided over by Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque.
All the senior Police officials, including the Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Police and senior detective officials, were present in the meeting.
Law enforcing agencies had been asked to remain alert as the Supreme Court had rejected the review petition filed against the death sentence awarded to war criminal convict Mohammad Kamaruzzaman, Police headquarters sources said.
Meanwhile from Sunday, the police force have begun its preparations for Pahela Baishakh celebrations. With less than 10 days left for celebration
decision makers from Bangladesh Police and intelligence agencies held a meeting at the Police Headquarters to initiate the procedures.
