The monthly meeting of the district law and order committee to review the law and order in the district was held on Monday in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Faridpur.
The meeting chaired by DC Sardar Sharafat Ali was attended by district law enforcing agencies’ chiefs, NGO representatives, government officials, lawyers and representatives of the civil society.
It was decided in the meeting to conduct frequent mobile courts to prevent adulteration in food and also to check preservatives injurious for health and drug menace. It was also decided to check the fake clinics, diagnostic centers and other health related fraudulent practices to deceive the people.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Md Monirul Alom made a power point presentation depicting the gradual reduction of crime incidents in the district.
It was observed that the increase in mobile courts helped decrease of various crimes including drug abuse, food adulteration and traffic rule violations.
RAB Company Commander (CC) Major Mojammel Hossain pointed out that as Faridpur is situated connecting capital city with some bordering districts the movement of contraband liquor phensidyl has increased ahead of Puja and Eid festival.
Meanwhile some big consignments have been hauled up from highway along with peddlers and carriers, the RAB CC informed the meeting.
Police Super Md Jamil Hassan informed the meeting that in view of local demands a police inspection center will be set up at Momin Khar Hat under Char Madhabdia union of Sadar upazilla and a river police camp will be set up soon covering the vast area of Padma river bank to prevent cow lifting.
DC Sardar Sharafat emphasized on creating awareness among the guardians to be careful about their wards to keep them safe from drug abuse. He also sought the cooperation of all to improve the law and order in the district.
Among others Sadar Upazilla Chairman Kh. Mohtesham Hossain Babo and NGO personnel Asma Akhtar Mukta spoke in the meeting.
