The Second Phase of Chittagong Wasa Karnaphuli Water Supply Project was inaugurated by the Secretary of LGED Md Monjur Hossain yesterday as chief Guest.
Samsuddin Ahmed, Joint secretary of LGED was present as special guest. Managing Director of Chittagong WASA Engineer AKM Fazlullah presided over the inaugural eeremony.
Senior Representative of JICA Mr. Kei Toyama ,Chairman of NJS Consultant Co. Ltd Mr. Masayoshi Takeuchi , Deputy Managing Director of WASA Abdul Awal also spoke at the inaugural function .
Monjur Hossain said, the demand of water is growing high with population day by day in Chittagong City. We are trying our best to mitigate the water crisis . We hope that after successful implementation of the 2nd Phase, CWSA will be capable to mitigate the water crisis.
Managing Director AKM Fazlullah said , we are failing to provide sufficient water to the city dwellers because the water level is decreasing in the summer seasons. Besides, the power crisis is also hampering the water supply.
