The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended water transport services on all routes due to inclement weather.
BIWTA Public Relations Officer Mobarak Hossain confirmed it on Thursday morning. He said: “Around 10am, we ordered the launch owners not to continue launch services on Thursday due to stormy weather. The services will remain suspended till further notice.”
He said the movement of launches, ferries, and fishing boats will resume when weather conditions improve.
According to the Met office, light to moderate rain, thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
