Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court on Sunday rejected bail petitions of former Minister Abdul Latif Siddique in seven cases filed for his derogatory remarks on Hajj and Tablig Jamaat.Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court passed the order after Latif Siddique produced to his court seeking bail in the cases. Latif Siddique’s counsel Advocate Mosharraf Hossain Kajol filed the petitions.Latif was sued in the cases for hurting Hajj and Tablig Jamaat while addressing a gathering of the expatriates of Tangail in New York on September 28 last year. Latif then said, “During Hajj, so much manpower is wasted. More than 20 lakh people have gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. They have no work, no production and are offering only deduction.” His comments caused public outrage in different places of the country and a number of cases were lodged against him.
