Late Brig Gen Khurshid awarded ‘Swadhinata Puraskar’ 2021

Late valiant freedom fighter Brigadier General Khurshid Uddin Ahmed of Gafargaon, Mymensingh has been awarded the ‘Swadhinata Puraskar’ 2021′. The award was handed over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a simple ceremony at Ganobhaban on Thursday (May 20th).
Brigadier General (retd) Khurshid Uddin Ahmed, son of the late Abdur Rahman, a former police officer of Tangabo Union Banshia village, son of Gafargaon, is a heroic freedom fighter, doctor, army officer and one of the accused in the historic Agartala conspiracy case. He has left his mark on every aspect of his career. In recognition of his glorious and meritorious contribution to the welfare of the country, he received the ‘Swadhinata Puraskar-2021’ in the posthumous Independence and Liberation War category.
Brigadier General (Retd.) Khurshid Uddin Ahmed was born in 1933 in the village of Banshia in Gafargaon upazila. Brigadier General (Retd.) Khurshid Uddin Ahmed passed away on 22 April 2013. He was buried with state honors at Dhaka Cantonment Cemetery..
